open[learning]spaces

Exploring Learning Communities Worldwide

open[learning]spaces is a visual research project at Hamburg University of Technology, founded by the Digital Learning Transfer Fellowship of Stifterverband and Reinhard Frank Foundation. We are interested in how higher education institutions should design future learning spaces.
And we need your help for this! Be part of this process to design future learning spaces!

If you imagined a learning space of your dreams in higher education institutions in which

any kind of digital tool or technology — how would these spaces look like?
E.g., do you feel inspired by spaces in which you or other people freely experiment with robots, 3D technology or web applications? Can you think of spaces in which it is fun to learn together which others or on your own supported by freely available digital tools and learning materials?

First step: Let us be part of your favorite learnings spaces. Please send us a mail with pictures or links of these inspiring spaces!

Second step: Once you sent us your pictures we will reach out to you in order to understand why this space is so inspiring for you.

Third step: We will publish all inspiring spaces, links and information from you on our world map provided below.

Hack[a|er]rspace

Come along
Hamburg University of Technology, Building Q, second floor, Wednesday 2-5pm

People are coming together from totally different disciplines, sharing the main interest in how to apply technology in order to support open learning processes. For me, coming from social sciences, it is always an adventure and a great learning journey when discussing on green technology or data science. It is this combination of disciplines and the common interest, which supports my personal learning when dealing with digital tools in learning scenarios. The learning space itself is - let me tell it this way - wild. We always have candies, sweets and Club Mate. We usually work in tandems or in small groups. And most important we have usually more than 3 hours to really go into the details of our problems. Thus it is bring your own problem and leave with a group-discussed and designed solution. Every Wednesday is my favorite time in the week.

Memrise Language App

Come along
AppStore / Play Store

Have a look inside

Memrise is not a usual language app. The learner slips into the role of an astronaut and visits the outer space. Every planet stands for a new topic and new vocabulary.

Facebook

Come along
World Wide Web

Have a look inside
https://www.facebook.com/

Facebook pages and groups are an easy way to get an overview over certain topics despite the fast developments. There is no (public or private) facebook page/group I would call my favourite but the combination of many different ones create a rich source of knowledge and opinions from many different perspectives.
